When we are closed

Telephoning

If telephoning the surgery outside normal surgery hours, you will hear a message informing you that we are closed and that you need to hang up and redial 111 to be connected.

Urgent Care Centre

The Urgent and Emergency Care Centre is located on B Level of Rotherham Hospital. The centre has a dedicated external entrance and is clearly signposted.

What is the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre for?

The centre will treat anyone with an urgent or emergency care need.

An urgent care need is something which needs immediate care but isn’t life or limb threatening, such as broken bones, burns and scalds, wounds and minor illnesses including fever, infections and rashes.

If people are unsure of where to go, there are a range of healthcare professionals who are able to advise the best course of treatment including pharmacists, GPs and the NHS 111 service.

NHS 111

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS 111 (111). Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

NHS 111 is a service that’s been introduced to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services in England. You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency. NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
