How well we help you understand and talk with us

This is an easy read page.

It tells you what we found when we checked our work in October 2026.

Some words are in bold.

Hard words are explained at the end.

The rules

The NHS has rules called the Accessible Information Standard.

The rules are for people with a disability or who have problems seeing or hearing.

We must give you information you can read and understand.

We must give you help to talk with us if you need it.

Tell us what you need

You might need large print, easy read, braille or audio.

You might need a BSL interpreter, a hearing loop or a longer appointment.

You can bring someone to help you, like an advocate.

Phone us on

01709 375500

You can use Relay UK or a BSL video relay.

Email us at

stannsreception.c87005@nhs.net

Or tell someone at our front desk.

We will put it on your record so all our staff know.

It is free.

We checked our work

We answered 14 questions from the NHS about how well we follow the rules.

We gave each answer a colour.

Green means we are doing well.

We got green for 5 questions.

Amber means we are getting there, but there is more to do.

We got amber for 9 questions.

Red means we have not started.

We got red for 0 questions.

What we do well

We ask everyone if they need help to understand or talk with us.

We write your needs on your computer record.

Staff see a message about your needs every time they open your record.

We check your needs are still right when you have a review or health check.

You can complain in the way that suits you.

Our complaints leaflet comes in easy read and large print.

One person is in charge of making sure we follow the rules.

What patients told us

In 2026, 112 of our patients filled in a national survey.

3 out of 4 people said it is easy to get through to us on the phone.

That is better than most surgeries in England.

Nearly everyone said our front desk team are helpful.

Using our website or the NHS App is harder.

Only about 6 out of 10 people said it was easy.

We want to make this better.

What we will do next

By November 2026

We will remind all our staff about the rules.

By November 2026

We will keep a list of complaints about information and communication, so we can learn from them.

By December 2026

We will look for people who might need help but have not told us yet.

We will contact them.

By December 2026

We will find more ways to help people who are deaf, like lipspeakers.

By January 2027

We will check if our computer can print letters in large print by itself.

By January 2027

We will put up posters and add information to our website.

They will tell you how to ask for help.

By February 2027

We will ask patients more questions about what helps them.

By March 2027

We will check our work again and update this page.

We will do this every year.

Tell us what you think

Did we get it wrong? Do you have an idea to help us?

Please tell us.

Phone 01709 375500, email us, or talk to our front desk.
